Robomancer Studio — The Robotic Arm(s) of Datamancer
Seven-axis KUKA robotic milling for film & TV scenic, VFX props, experiential activations, and architectural elements — sculpted from foam, wood, and tooling board at sizes a router table can't touch, finished with the precision your drawings demand.
01 / Capabilities
We run two matched, state-of-the-art KUKA KR 210 R3100-2 seven-axis robot cells — each arm mathematically coupled to a continuous-rotation turntable for true 360° milling: undercuts, compound curves, and full-round sculpture without repositioning. A hotwire attachment roughs styrene blocks to near-net shape in minutes, so spindle time goes into surfaces, not waste removal.
CELL_01
Permanent shop setup
Installed and dialed-in at our Southern California facility for continuous, reliable production. Your go-to for trade show centerpieces, event builds, experiential marketing structures, and architectural fabrication — always calibrated, always available, always on schedule.
CELL_02
Mobile studio setup
The same 210 kg / 3,100 mm robot, engineered for rapid deployment. We bring industrial robotic milling to your sound stage, production studio, or remote location — fast-turnaround scenic, VFX physical assets, special effects, and props fabricated where you shoot.
| Component | Specification | What it means for your project |
|---|---|---|
| Robot arm | KUKA KR 210 R3100-2 | 210 kg payload and 3,100 mm reach — a work envelope built for set pieces, not desk trinkets. |
| Rotary axis | Coupled 7th-axis turntable | Mathematically coupled continuous rotation — complex undercuts and true 360° sculptural milling in one setup. |
| Spindle | HQD 18 kW, liquid-cooled | Industrial-grade power for fast material removal and smooth, finish-ready surfaces. |
| Roughing | Hotwire attachment | EPS/XPS blocks roughed to near-net shape at speed — dramatically shorter mill times and lower cost. |
02 / The Datamancer Pipeline
Robomancer Studio shares a roof — and a workflow — with Datamancer Laser. That means hybrid builds happen under one contract, on one timeline: structural robotic foam and wood shapes from our cells, mated to precision-cut acrylic, wood, or metal faceplates and details from theirs. No hand-offs between vendors. No tolerance stack-up between shops. No finger-pointing when schedules compress.
ROBOMANCER
Massive-scale, multi-axis 3D milling of foams, wood, and tooling board. The structure, the sculpture, the shape.
DATAMANCER LASER
Heavy-duty 3-axis flat-sheet routing in MDF, plywood, hardwood, plastics, aluminum, and brass — plus high-precision laser cutting, marking, and engraving.
TOGETHER
Sculpted robotic cores with precision-cut skins, panels, inlays, and hardware details — a complete build from one integrated shop.
03 / Materials & Markets
Vertical / 01
Scenic elements, movie sets, custom props, VFX physical assets, and special effects housings — with a mobile cell that mills on your stage when the schedule can't wait for a shop.
Vertical / 02
Trade show booths, large-scale brand activations, interactive displays, and temporary public installations — sculptural impact at sizes that stop foot traffic, delivered on event deadlines.
Vertical / 03
Custom dimensional wall panels, complex molding and millwork, sculptural concrete formwork, and spatial design elements — CAD-exact execution of geometry other shops decline to bid.

04 / Workflow
Expert digital modeling and CAD/CAM preparation in-house. We program the robots in Ency CAM with a dedicated KUKA multi-axis post-processor, and run all flat-sheet and rotary router work through Mastercam. We're fluent in both solid models (STEP, Parasolid — our preferred starting point for clean, precise toolpaths) and mesh models (OBJ, STL, FBX — the native language of sculptural and VFX work). Send us either, or a napkin sketch — we optimize every file for physical fabrication.
01
Solid model or sculpted mesh — we refine, repair, and optimize your geometry, or model it from scratch, for real-world fabrication.
02
Multi-axis toolpaths generated and simulated in Ency CAM before a single chip flies.
03
Hotwire strips foam blocks to near-net shape fast, cutting mill hours — and your invoice.
04
18 kW spindle finish passes, 360° on the turntable, plus laser-cut detail from Datamancer Laser.
05 / What We Build
Film / TV / VFX
Full-scale environments and hero set pieces, milled in foam and hard-coated for camera.
Film / TV / VFX
Custom props, creature bucks, and special-effects housings — dimensionally exact to the digital asset.
Events & Experiential
Booth structures and oversized brand objects engineered to ship, assemble, and dominate the floor.
Events & Experiential
Interactive displays and temporary public installations at photograph-me scale.
Architectural & Design
Parametric surfaces, complex molding, and sculptural millwork executed exactly to CAD.
Architectural & Design
Sculptural formwork and one-off spatial design elements milled from foam and tooling board.
06 / Start a Project
Tell us what you're building — rough dimensions, material, and deadline are enough to start. We'll come back with feasibility, approach, and pricing. Most quotes within two business days.
▸Have a 3D model? Solid or mesh — mention the format (STEP, Parasolid, OBJ, STL, FBX) and we'll send an upload link.
▸On-stage or on-site work? Ask about Cell 2, our mobile robotic studio.
▸Need flat-sheet or laser work too? One quote can cover the full Datamancer pipeline.
